Description: My client, a vibrant start-up online sales company is searching for a PR and social media manager. The ideal candidate will have advertising agency experience, be open minded, versatile and outgoing.

As the PR and social media manager, you will maximise brand visibility and its connection with the desired target audience. You will build, develop and optimise the marketing strategy of the company and create interactive social programs that generate and build users engagement while driving sales through social media and networking.


  • Define the PR strategy and liaise with media to pitch and present products, stories and events
  • Develop a marketing communications plan including strategy, goals, budget and tactics
  • Develop media relations strategy and seek high- level placements in broadcast and online media
  • Write and distribute press releases and kits as directed
  • Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within business and industry media
  • Monitor, review and report on PR coverage received
  • Constantly be on the lookout for new opportunities to promote the brand in South Africa
  • Ensure consistency in the brand presence
  • Provide expert knowledge of social platforms, as well as insights about current and upcoming Social Media trends
  • Create, execute, and monitor social media campaigns
  • Report about channel and campaigns performances
  • Increase engagement on social media platforms, while bringing more users to our pages
  • Maintain all social networking activity in line with the company’s brand objectives
  • Maintain clear intent and strategic direction for each social media campaign, in order to drive sales and build brand awareness


  • Work experience within an advertising agency environment is non-negotiable
  • At least two years within the PR industry with existing media contacts
  • Experience in the implementation of PR communications and brand strategies
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Solid understanding of social media best practices and trends
  • Able to work cohesively within a team environment
  • Able to strategically collaborate with partners to develop and deploy successful campaigns
  • Strong communicator, forward and creative thinker
  • Collaborative, innovative and engaging
  • Excellent problem solver
